Why do we need to protect the steelwork?
During a fire situation the temperature within a building can rise from ambient around 20°C, up to 1000°C. As the temperature in the building increases, so does the temperature of the steel structure that supports the building. All steel sections have wants know as a critical steel temperature. This is the temperature at which the steel section begins to lose its strength and buckle.

DESCRIPTION AND USE
Inturmescent paint is a thin decorative paint system providing fire resistance to structural steel and cast iron. The unique range of hard, high quality, weather resistant finishes enhance a building's architectural or historic features.
ECONOMY AND SPEED
½ hour and 1 hour fire resistance can be achieved with a single application of inturmescent paint 1½ hour fire resistant can be achieved with just two coats.
HOW IT WORKS
Heat in a fire triggers a catalytic reaction causing expansion of an insulating char layer up to 50 times the paint film thickness. This keeps the steel below its critical temperature thus maintaining the structural stability of the building.
FIRE CERTIFICATION
We can provide a Certificate of Supply upon request for each project for Insurance, Fire and Building Control Authority and Client Records.
